Kingdom of Heaven

I've just watched Kingdom of Heaven last weekend. It's a great film. Hats off to Mr. Ridley Scott for a job well done. It's reminiscent of Gladiator in terms of it's epic-ness.

The story of Kingdom of Heaven is more or less about the time of the crusades before King Richard the Lionheart went to Jerusalem. It's a story is about a local french blacksmith who lost his faith when his wife died and tried to find it back by going to Jerusalem. Upon going to Jerusalem he finds himself in the middle of a war between the christians and the muslims and does the unthinkable to protect Jerusalem and the people within the walls.

Now for those who haven't seen the film, read no further for I'm about to say my take on the film. Spoiler alert. Anyway, Orlando Bloom's character Balian is a heroic figure with good moral character but in my opinion, it was all his fault that all of the bad things transpired. First off, if he didn't killed off the priest in his village and joined Godfrey (Liam Neeson) before hand, then Godfrey wouldn't have gotten shot by an arrow and died. Second, if he just married the King of Jerusalem's sister and have Gee executed, then the war between the Christians and the Muslims wouldn't have started in the first place. He knew that Gee was a mad man. Like Sybilla said, "one day you'll realize that by doing less evil, you might do it for the greater good". Conscience aside, it's kinda true. Third, he was the one who surrendered Jerusalem to Saladin. Nuff said. ^_^

Like I said before, it's only my opinion but all in all, this film is great. I highly recommend this one, especially if you're the kind of person who likes the medieval ages and the crusades.
